GABORONE.
ABOUT half of a 330 km double cordon veterinary fence between Botswana and Rhodesia has been completed.
The fence runs from Vakaranga to Tuli Circle along Botswana's north-east border with Rhodesia. Its main purpose is to keep out stock from Rhodesia "which may have foot and mouth disease".
Cattle dipping and disease control has not been fully efficient along the Rhodesia side of the fence because of terrorist activity.
