But I loved my land so much and this has not changed. Any Rhody from that era can only admit that our whole life was molded by our life there and our whole attitude is so different from other people. One thing people say over and over again is how friendly, hard working, unspoiled and genuine we are. When I look at footage about how our country has changed, I can only say there never was a country like Rhodesia and there never will be again. I loved my country and all the people and am grateful that my beautiful memories until my dying day will be clearly imprinted on my mind. It is so sad that in Africa even though you are born here you will always be treated as an outsider, this leaves a lot of people with an identity crisis. I can only say "Kay Serah Serah what will be will be", and carry on nurturing the ethics and morals I learned as a young Rhodesian and teach them to my children. That objective I consider to be Mooshy Sterek. I count myself privileged to have been brought up in a country like Rhodesia and it is such a shame that our children can never taste the good things we experienced. Every other country is foreign to me and unless I am in the bundu with the elephant grass and the beautiful birds and a big pot of "sudza and gravy" I feel like I am in a foreign land. I know that this answer is 4 years too late, but; as far as the O Level qualification goes it is hellishly expensive to get your child an O level qualification in South Africa today but it is probably the only way to ensure that your child can compete in any overseas country in the work market. The South African Metric has now been so degraded that it will not be acceptable in any country as a basic education qualification. I have been in South Africa since 1993 and just recently came across a situation regarding the Rhodesian Certificate of Education in which the South Africa Qualifications Association relate this Certificate to Standard 8 or Grade 10. Am I right in assuming that the O Level was marked in the UK? and surely the Rhodesian Certificate of Education can be noted as a Government Certificate of Education. Talking about 1978/79.
Would love to hear your comments.
Jill Heuer (Bulawayo)JChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03744880628518490822noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3136959581834392797.post-53737413520092688482010-08-04T19:16:10.019+02:002010-08-04T19:16:10.019+02:00Bill Teague from Canada Writes:-

It is little wonder that the Frenchman when told that the sun never set on the British Empire at the height of it's power, replied; I'm not surprised as you cannot trust the English in the dark"Rhodesia Rememberedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06644511584084003690noreply@blogger.com
